1790 05 17 : Letter with news from Kirkoswald

17 May 1790. LETTER WITH NEWS FROM KIRKOSWALD. Bundle 62, Doc 34. 21.5 cm x 19 cm. Remains of a black seal. Two small tears. Very long (and seemingly unrelated) calculations on the back not transcribed. The remark about lead may be related to the calculations. John DIXON 17th. LONGRIGG that you would begin to lead lime this morning & continue till you were done –– I went down into the plantation & tryd. several trees, they all appeard. to run very well –– calld. upon T. IRELAND of Coathill in coming back & settled with him to get the peelers ready against Wednesday morning, I Understand he is to Manage the Bark for Mr. CORNFORTH ––– Jack THOMPSON will meet yr. other Feller in Baronwood at same time ––––––– Shall set out 4 trees in some of the woods T. RELPH will get peelers & I shall get some person to cut them down ––––––– Shall summon two Juries on Wednesday to attend the Court on Thursday Viz. one for Staffield & one for Kirkosd. between 10 & 11 O Clock perhaps it may suit you to be there I wish to have the Lead Gutter examind. ––––– I am Sir yr.
