Octr. 1795 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mr. OLDMAN Edenhall ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lazonby Oct. 21st. 1795 Dr. Sr. / I give this with great submission My Opinion about Wood End and Barren Wood, I think it very adviseable to get an Act immediately for several reasons Wood End / by having Barren Wood free / can be eased of its Tythe’s very greatly and by honest means as it should in a great measure be a Grazing Farm by having Barren Wood Annex’d as it pays Corn Tythe and the Rent cannot be paid by Grass alone besides the Sheap Tythe may be relieved one half at least – suppose Mr. MYERS or Nathan saw through this they would not consent at any such rates considering how they will be curtailed at Wood End by this means. The Act will never be got cheaper nor easier come at as you have all consents it may so happen when you want to have it done it cannot be come at. Sr. John consented to let me have it at Eighty Pounds a Year to pay the Parson and all Interests now when I am willing to pay the Interest for the Act for a Twenty one Years Loan certainly Sr. John will not hinder me / as I do not doubt the Soil in the least / I am willing to venter my property why should a good Spirit be hindered / I hope some Judgement along with it / I beg your pardon if I have made over free I remain your very obedient Servt. NB. When Barren Wood is once made [signed] Thos. RELPH into Land Sr. John will have an Estate with as nigh as big as Kirkoswald. ––
