1787 05 10 : Letter about workmen removing materials
10 May 1787. LETTER ABOUT WORKMAN REMOVING MATERIALS. Bundle 60, Doc 35. 32 cm x 19.5 cm, folded in half to make four pages. Page 3 left blank. Remains of a red seal and small hole where it was torn open with no loss of writing. The list of payments in Christopher DOBSON’s handwriting appears to have nothing to do with the letter. DOBSON, Edenhall ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sir / as you requested me to write to you in order to inform you, about James AINSLEY takeing away the Materials that belonged to Lugill head, you told me I was to keep the materials untill you were paid for the Wood & I was satisfied for the Damage that was done our work, therefore I refused to let him have them, till he threatened me on Tuesday Morning with a Felonious Warrant ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I said nothing more to him but came of to Inform you but when I came home he had taken all his work Tools Rolls & Standard besides Tow Long Trees purposly for repairing Old Shafts which I supose he had no right to James ATKINSON Shoemaker of Gamelsby came & Sought All the Tools & Wood away whether he had a right or not you know best we get very well forward at Lugill &c.
