The list on the outside is in Jonathan OLDMAN’s handwriting and appears to have nothing to do with the letter. CARMALT’s, how it happen’d. I cannot pretend to say but the Letter was lost, what is more particular, I wrote by Mr. CRAMPTON last Wednesday to the care of Mr. MOUNSEY Carlisle under cover, it being the Race Week I imagin’d. Mr. RAMSHAY might be there – Mr. CRAMPTON call’d. again on his return from Scotland last Saturday & Mr. RAMSHAY told him he had sent me an Answer on Thursday, as yet I have Rec’d. neither Answer – if you have time pray enquire at CARMALTs I am yr.
