Jan 1796. LETTER FROM KIRKOSWALD ABOUT LOST CORRESPONDENCE. Bundle 61, Doc 22. 21 cm x 20.5 cm. Remains of red seal with corresponding hole where it was torn open. The list on the outside is in Jonathan OLDMAN’s handwriting and appears to have nothing to do with the letter. CARMALT’s, how it happen’d. I cannot pretend to say but the Letter was lost, what is more particular, I wrote by Mr. CRAMPTON last Wednesday to the care of Mr. MOUNSEY Carlisle under cover, it being the Race Week I imagin’d. Mr. RAMSHAY might be there – Mr. CRAMPTON call’d. again on his return from Scotland last Saturday & Mr. RAMSHAY told him he had sent me an Answer on Thursday, as yet I have Rec’d. neither Answer – if you have time pray enquire at CARMALTs I am yr.
