1776 07 16 : Solicitor's letter about a court case

16 Jul 1776. SOLICITOR’S LETTER ABOUT A COURT CASE. Bundle 62, Doc 7. 32.5 cm x 20.5 cm, folded in half to make four pages. The two middle pages are blank. Red wax seal and two corresponding holes where it was torn open. Mr. GRAHM Atty 16. July 1776. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mr. DOBSON Edenhall [Incomplete straight line stamp:] CARL ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Sir / I am favour’d with yours of the Inst. ~ You will have heard I was at Penrith last week and I wrote you that I had recommended to Sir Philip MUSGRAVE to send the Record for CARTWRIGHT to Mr. WALLACE at York &c. for his Clerk to be entered with the Marshall in such manner as Mr. WALLACE will direct, & that I had answered all Sir Philip’s Letter as well as I could – Some things having since occured to me I state them by this post to Mr. MORGAN and he will have my Letter in time for the Intended meeting between Sir Philip and him ~ If there is any writing at Edenhall Shewing that Edenhall is a Manor, and if you Expect the original of that writing to be in the Tower or in any other Repository of Records in London, you send Mr. MORGAN Copy of it, to be examined with the original Record in order to its being sent with the person Examining the same to be proved – But I should think that you can prove there is the manor of Edenhall and also Sir Philips prescriptive right ~ I am – Dr. Sir Carlisle 16th.
