01 Mar 1796. LETTER ABOUT PLOUGHING. Bundle 61, Doc 17. 19 cm x 15.5 cm. Crumpled and dirty along main file fold. Two tears. Black seal and hole where it was broken open. March 1796 ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mr. OLDMAN Edenhall ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sir I am at a loss for about 4 Acres of land to saw Oats upon this Season – the Case is thus, I have 46Ac ploughed, my Allowance is 50Ac, but I cannot break into another 8Ac field without either yr. Consent, or running the Risque of a fine of 20£ – I shall now shew you what state of Management the Land is in ––––– Wheat 8As. –– Fallow & Turnips 15Acs ––– Barley 15Acres ––– & Oats only 8Acres ––– 11Acres or more of the Barley will be sawn down with White Clover this Season – in all 46Acres ––– I must therefore intreat you to let me open out the 8 Acres field ––– Yr.
