May 1787. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mr. DOBSON Edenhall per fovor of Wm. [?] HODGSON ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sir / K[ ]d. May 17th. 1787 ––––––––––––– I have consulted my Father relating Mrs. CARLYLE’s Estate in Lasonby, he cannot recollect any thing relating the said Estate neither can any thing be made out by the old Rental Books what part is freehold & what Customary ––– The Lords Rent I find is £ 1 ~ 0 ~ 1½ same as you mention in your Letter I’ve taken the Diameter of a Corn stack Bottom which is Ft. 16, in Circumference ‘twill be very nigh Ft. 50 upon this Stack / last year / we had 190 Stooks of Wheat and we thought it rather full large unless when the Harvest is very dry, tho’ it only contain’d. abt. 47 Cart Load ––– I’ve taken dimentions of our Wheat Barn which holds one good Stack and room for thrashing in the Dimentions are thus Length within the Walls ft. 28½ Breadth Do. F18 From the Floor to the top of Side Wall F13½ I think this is a more certain way of building by than by a Stack as the size depends much upon the height –––– My Father continues poorly I am yr.
