1791 12 22 : Letter of apology from London
22 Dec 1791. LETTER OF APOLOGY FROM LONDON. Bundle 60, Doc 6. 37 cm x 23 cm, folded in half to make four pages. The two middle pages were left blank. Two large holes (no writing lost) where the seal was torn off. Mr. Thos. WATSON 22d. Decr. 1791 ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mr. OLDMAN Edenhall ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ London 22nd. Decr. 1791 Dr Sir I can hardly tell how to appologyse for my neglect in not executing your commission – I gave it to one of my people to match, which throught neglect lost the pattern; but if you’ll be so good as inclose another bit, you may depend upon greater care being taken, & match’d if possible – have sent you a pipe of Tabacco in order to puff away the leisure hours at Christmas – shud have been glad to have joined you, but time will not permit – excuse this Scrawl, make my best Comp~ts to Mrs. O – wishing you the Compliments of the aproaching season I am, Dr Sir, Yours &c [signed] T WATSON
