20 May 1754. RECEIPT FOR 1 YEAR’S NEATGELD & SERJEANTS OATS. A small neat and clean receipt for Neatgeld and Serjents Oats. (An ancient method of payment based on Cattle or Cornage.) 4” x 6”. 20th. May 1754 Receiv’d of Sir Philip MUSGRAVE Bart. by Chr. DOBSON one pound six Shillings & eight pence in full for one Years Neatgeld and Serjeant Oates for Blandsis & Spencers Tenmt. at Little Musgrave & Petty Tenemt. at Soulby due last St. Andrew day to the Rt Honble. the Earl of THANET for whose Use I say receiv’d by me [signed] Robt.
