June 1790 ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To Mr. OLDMAN at Edenhall ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kirkby Stephen June 4th. 1790 Sir I fancey there will be but littel to do at Soulby or Musgrave Courts this year there is some Catle gates sould to Mr. STEPHENSON of Breeks Hall, in grasgill Botom belonging to Soulby the Fines has been asses’d at 8s a Cattle gate I do not hear of any thing more at present at Soulby, at Musgrave Isaac SEWELL is Dead I supose his Estate may be worth between 8£ or 9£ a year. Matw. STEADMAN Widdow is Dead Matw. Died but lately so you will see how his Fine has been asses’d. I do not hear of any more. Thos. ATKINSON that liv’d at Hallgarth desires that you would bring up his Leace; they get well forwd. with Walling at Soulby Robt. BOUSFIELD at Soulby would not fetch any Catch. John RAILTON at great Musgrave pais a Catch but he does not keep a horse he said he would pay you what was reasonable for it, here is two Tanners in Kirby they both want to buy it the bark and to take it as it is unchop’d I will show them’t and if you think it convienint to sell it unchop’t they can tell you what they will give for it, there was 4 Quarters & a peck the last year but there will we think be about 5 Qrs. this year.
